About Niamh Gleeson

Dr Niamh Christina Gleeson is an international technology and commercial lawyer with more than twenty years of experience advising businesses on complex legal and regulatory matters across Europe. She specialises in data protection, artificial intelligence, digital regulation, commercial contracts and competition law, with particular expertise in the technology, communications and digital sectors.

Niamh is admitted to practise in multiple jurisdictions. She is a member of the Paris Bar and is also a qualified solicitor in Ireland and in England and Wales. Throughout her career, she has advised multinational companies, technology businesses, start-ups and public sector organisations on navigating the rapidly evolving European legal landscape.

Before establishing her practice in France, Niamh worked in private practice in London and Brussels and spent more than a decade as in-house counsel for leading international companies, including British Telecom and Apple EMEA. This combination of private practice and corporate experience enables her to provide commercially focused advice that aligns legal requirements with business objectives.

Her practice focuses on a broad range of matters, including GDPR compliance, AI governance, cloud computing, digital platforms, technology contracts, data-sharing arrangements, telecommunications regulation and European competition law. She regularly advises clients operating across borders and supports international businesses seeking to establish or expand their activities in France and the European Union.

Niamh is recognised for her expertise in European digital regulation.From 2022-2025, she has served as a member of the European Commission Expert Group on B2B data sharing and standard contractual clauses in cloud computing, contributing to the implementation of the EU Data Act.

Alongside her legal practice, Niamh is an active author and lecturer. She is a contributing author to Cloud Computing Law (Oxford University Press, 2021) and has published numerous articles in international legal journals. She has also taught postgraduate students in information technology and cloud law as a visiting lecturer at Queen Mary University of London.

Niamh graduated in law from the University of Dublin and qualified as a barrister in Ireland in 1995. She holds a Master of Laws from the College of Europe in Bruges and a PhD in European competition law from King's College London. She is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (Europe) and works fluently in English and French.
